Barry’s Backhoe

Barry just sent me this:  He has dreamed of having a backhoe for years now

I finally got to try out my back hoe, just finished it up nearly 98% complete.  I may make some teeth for the bucket as well.

Built it to fit on the farm tractor, it is removable, with about 6 bolts,

Needs a set of hand rails for climbing on and off and a seat, I have the seat just need to mount it, but it is welded up and even painted and I even tried it out a little, and it dug fairly good.

And the hydraulics are all working the way they should be.  It was a time consuming project.

Have Vision

Do your children give you rest?  Is there a vision for the home?

17″Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

 ~Proverbs 29:17&18

I find it interesting, that God put a verse about parenting next to one about visions and happiness.  Happiness, that comes from keeping the law.

When we, as parents, have a vision for our home, there is direction and security.  There are also rules of conduct that go with it.  If I had no idea what I wanted my sons to turn out like, I would have a very hard time knowing how to correct them.  As it is, I know that I want them to be gentlemen, who respect others and who work hard.  My vision is that they grow to be real men:  Men who love God and His ways.  Men who pray.  Men, who take care of their families, and love their wives, as Christ loves the Church.

I have found that when there is a lack of joy in my home there is also a lack of discipline, which means a lack of “keeping the law”.  Children feel safe, secure and peaceful, when they know what to expect, and what is expected of them.

“Dreams” have a Beginning

It was the early 80’s.  I was four years old, and wondering about life.  How does one know what path to follow?

I asked my mom if she had wanted to marry my daddy when she was my age.  She said she hadn’t known my father then.  Then I inquired if she had wanted to live on a farm when she grew up.  She said she had always assumed she would.

After that, I fell to contemplating my life, and what I wanted.

One thing was for sure:  I didn’t want to marry the first guy I dated.  The women I knew who had done that didn’t seem to appreciate the love they were given.  I figured it was because they had never had their hearts broken.

The rest of life’s big questions were still a mystery to me.  Where was I to live?  How many children to have?  What about college and career?

I didn’t know enough about life to make these decisions, so I asked God.  My logic was that He knows everything, and that He answers prayer.

God quickly responded to my prayer:  When I grew up, I was going to attend Frontier School of the Bible (the college where my parents had met), marry my second boyfriend, have five kids, and live in Montana (which meant mountains to me…I was 8 or 9 before I realized there was a difference).  I’m not sure which God meant.

My career would be that of wife and mother.

Dreaming…

"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass." ~Psalm 37:4 & 5

Confident Endeavors

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."

- H.D. Thoreau
